随着巴以冲突加剧，全美境内的反犹情绪日益高涨。在纽约街头及其他地区的校园内，张贴以色列人质的海报被频频撕掉；除了撕海报外，亲巴学生团体与支持以色列团体的学生们发生对抗冲突。
被撕掉的海报是由几位以色列艺术家设计的，在哈马斯袭击以色列时，他们正好在纽约旅游。
艺术家们在制作海报前已确认了 220 名人质的身份，并坚持每撕下一张海报，他们会保证再贴出1万张。
